Welcome to SYNTHETIC BIOLOGY - BioBio society organized symposium at ChemBio 2011 Science Forum (Messukeskus, Hall 203, Congress wing) on Wednesday 23.03.2011.
The Finnish scientific society for Biosciences, Societas biochemica, biophysica et microbiologica Fenniae is organizing a one-day symposium with the theme ”Synthetic Biology”. What is synthetic biology; how to generate a synthetic biomolecule; what are the principle components required for generating synthetic life; what are giant viruses; and what form of life could possible exist in the space? We have gathered top international scientists from the field to come and present the current status of the research within these topics.
Talks are in English and accessible to general audience.

Biobio Society was founded by Nobel laureate Artturi Ilmari Virtanen (AIV) in 1946. The Society celebrated the anniversary by organizing an Anniversary Symposium and a party in Wanha satama, Helsinki, September 12-13. Take a look at the pictures from the symposium and the party.
