The committee for biosciences is coordinated and supported by the Council of Finnish Academies, which allocates national committees of various disciplines with state subsidies from the Ministry of Education and Culture. The national committees form an extensive expert-network of scientists, with members from academies, learned societies, universities and research institutes. The Council aims in promoting scientific research and the impact of research in society by taking part in debates on science policies. It also works in order to advance the use of scientific knowledge in policymaking.

At the moment, the board of the committee for biosciences consists of the board of the Biobio Society. The aim of the committee is to promote Finnish biosciences and to link the national bioscientific society to the international umbrella organizations.

These organizations offer a wide variety of grants for Biobio Society members. There is support available for fellowships (summer visits, post-doc grants), travel and meetings.

The Biobio Society is also a member of the Federation of Finnish Learned Societies.
